Are UTMs free?

Yes! Its free to add UTMs codes to marketing links and use Google Analytics to review the performance of each link. Our Free UTM Builder lets you create consistent error-free UTMs at speed.

UTM stands for Urchin Tracking Module. These are small pieces of code found attached to the end of a URL. UTMs are crucial assets to marketing campaigns and analytics as they answer some important questions that inform marketing decisions.

The most common UTMs are UTM Source, UTM Medium, and UTM Campaign. UTM Source tells us where users come from, for example, Facebook. It is easy to confuse UTM Source and UTM Medium as both seem to refer to the same thing, but while Source tells us where users come from, Medium tells us about the way in which users come from the source, for example, paid ads or blog posts. UTM Campaign tells us which promotion users clicked on to arrive at the page. There are other UTMs as well, however, the aforementioned are the primary ones.

It can be difficult to create consistent UTMs and report on accurate data in Google Analytics when you have many stakeholders in large enterprises. Our premium Link Management Platform Uplifter gives organisations governance and peace of mind when creating and reporting on UTMs.
